Dental
Exams, X-rays & Cleanings: It is important to see
your dentist on a regular basis (at least twice a year) for
cleanings and exams. This periodic visit involves x-rays, exams
by both the dentist and hygienist and then, if your gums are
healthy, a basic cleaning (the removal of tartar and plaque and
polishing of the teeth).
Treatment and Maintenance of Periodontal Disease:
If the dentist and hygienist feel the gums are unhealthy (the
start of or progression of periodontal disease), the hygienist
will treat the gums with two cleanings or scaling and root
planning. Periodic visits to the hygienist will help in
the maintenance of healthy gums once you have started treatment
for periodontal disease.
Fillings:
If a tooth is decayed, chipped, or fractured it can be fixed
with a filling. The dentist will clean out the decay and fill
the tooth with a material called composite. Because this
material is white in color it looks like the tooth. Fillings can
be used for restorative or cosmetic reasons.
Root Canal Therapy:
A root canal is needed when the nerve of a tooth is affected by
decay or infection. The process involves removing all of the
decay and treating the infection, and then filling the tooth
with medicated dental materials.
Crowns:
If a tooth is not strong enough or cannot be remedied with just
a filling a crown is used to protect the tooth. A crown covers
the entire tooth and is shaped like a tooth. The white porcelain
material used to make the crown gives the appearance of your
natural tooth.
Veneers:
Veneers are thin, durable pieces of custom made porcelain that
are bonded to the front teeth to enhance their appearance.
Fixed Bridges:
A bridge is one or more replacement teeth anchored by one or
more crowns on each side. This bridge is permanently in
place and is made with the same white porcelain used in regular
crowns, giving the appearance of your natural teeth.
Inlays and Onlays:
Inlays and onlays are custom made fillings that are made by a
dental lab and then cemented onto your teeth.
Partial Dentures or
Dentures:
This is a removable appliance used to replace missing teeth in
your mouth. A partial denture is used to replace some teeth in
your mouth, whereas a traditional complete denture replaces all
the teeth in your mouth.
Implants:
Dental implants are a permanent solution to replacing missing
teeth. An artificial root made of titanium is surgically placed
in the bone of the jaw. An implant crown, made of porcelain, is
placed on this root to create the appearance of your natural
tooth.
Teeth Whitening:
Our take home teeth whitening kits consists of custom made
plastic trays and whitening solution. After using this solution
on a daily basis for a week or two you should see a whiter,
brighter smile.
